Tall & Wide mills are built for the logs other mills turn away. A 2020TW opens up to a 38-inch cut. A cut that wide asks a lot of a 1-1/4″ band, and that is the job Ultra MAX was made for.
The alloy is our own, developed from a metallurgical analysis. It gives the blade beam strength rivaling thicker blades, which helps keep a wide cut flat. It still flexes like a thinner blade, which is what gives it a long working life.
The teeth are ground, not stamped. Stamping permanently stresses the steel, and milling the teeth afterward leaves that stress in place. Grinding avoids the problem from the start.
In lab torture tests, Ultra MAX blades last up to nearly 40% longer than competitors’ blades. On a mill that turns out lumber day after day, that means fewer stops to change blades and more resharpenings before a blade is retired.
One box of six covers the 1220TW, 1620, 2020, 2220 and 2520. If you run more than one TimberKing, you can stock a single blade for all of them. For the standard 1220, order the 1220 Ultra MAX instead.
