Community in Crisis — TimberKing Owner to the Rescue

San Marcos Daily Record

San Marcos Flood

We came across a front-page article in the San Marcos (Texas) Daily Record reporting on the area’s devastating 2015 flood. Cars overturned, mature trees uprooted, homes damaged. The photo featured one of our TimberKing sawmills hard at work sawing flood-downed trees into lumber. We had to know more and called Doug Caroselli, owner of Blackhawk Millworks and a TimberKing 2000 sawmill.

Sawing Pecan Logs

“Families here lost homes, businesses, furniture, clothing, family heirlooms and more. We organized community members including Cub and Boy Scouts to clean things up. We cleared the San Marcos and Blanco Rivers of trees. Then sawed them into boards and turned them into a diverse array of items for sale. We donated a percentage of the profits to help flood victims.

This business owner is a hands-on guy

I’ve run a metal fabrication business for years, then started a sawmill business in 2015. We saw trees into lumber with our TimberKing Sawmill. We have lots more equipment from TimberKing — a Talon edger, a dry kiln, a Woodmaster Molder/Planer, and a Woodmaster Drum Sander.

TimberKing and sawn lumber

A good friend of mine runs a TimberKing sawmill business and recommended TimberKing highly. His recommendation, plus TimberKing’s industry reputation, quality construction, and great customer service convinced me.

Big enough?

Before I bought my TimberKing 2000, I thought the 1600 would be ample. But by the time I added extras I wanted, the 1600 was nearly the price of a standard 2000 so I bought that one. Now I’ve outgrown the 2000 and wish I’d bought the 2200 model.

The roaring flood waters left one huge tangled up mess in the San Marcos, TX area. Doug and his crew used his TimberKing 2000 Sawmill to make good use of the salvaged trees.

My sawmill business is doing well, we just had our one-year anniversary. We’ve been primarily sawing logs into lumber — that’s brought more income than building furniture with what we saw.

Other companies should take a lesson from TK’s business model

TimberKing’s a good, solid sawmill. I’d give it a ‘10’ very easily and the factory support after sale is outstanding. In fact, other companies should use TimberKing as their business model.

For anybody else thinking of getting a sawmill, do your research. Consider the size of the logs you’ll be sawing. Talk extensively with the staff at TimberKing — that’s what I did. Make your choice and be sure you’re buying a big enough TimberKing. And if you have the money, buy a bigger one!”
