“On the way to church years ago, I noticed a sawmill sitting beside a business. Every week, I would point it out to my wife and comment on all the different things I could do if I had one.
I decided I had to have a sawmill! I wanted to create things straight from the tree to the finished product. So I began researching the various brands of sawmills on the market. I liked TimberKing’s mills because of the way they’re built. I didn’t want a bolt-together mill. I wanted the solid, welded frame and the strong 4-post head that TimberKing makes.
Floyd’s first mill was a 1220 TimberKing – easy to run solo

Then one day I heard about a TimberKing 1220 for sale. I bought that TK 1220 in 2015 and started getting the word out that we could custom mill lumber. Business grew by word-of-mouth. Today, we are grateful our job board is full and we keep getting calls for custom milling.
Our 1220 was a good start. It’s a manual mill that’s easy to run by yourself. No hydraulics. This was a good start because I found it easy to learn the basics of sawing.
Added a second mill — bigger mill, higher production

As business grew, we saw we needed a bigger mill, too. So we purchased a TimberKing 2200 from a friend who owned a pallet mill because we needed a bigger mill that had full hydraulics. The hydraulics, the computer, and the diesel engine all make my job easier. And our production yield is much higher with this bigger mill. (Editor’s note — the TimberKing 2200 has been upgraded to today’s 2220.)
We now have those two TimberKing sawmills and three Woodmaster Planer/Molders. All this equipment has more than paid for itself! (Read Floyd’s Woodmaster story here.)
How’s business?

Business is very good. We saw lumber and turn it into tables, live edge countertops, river tables, cabinetry, doors, wall decor, cutting boards, T&G flooring, log cabin siding, and more. We’ve also reproduced antique molding used in historic building restoration work here in Polk County.
We have all kinds of customers, mostly around central Florida, but we’ve done work for customers in other states, too. Interior decorators, construction companies, and homeowners. Our best customers are our repeat customers. It’s an honor to have people come back to us for more.
We really don’t advertise, though we do have an Instagram page. Word-of-mouth is how we get business.
What’s so great about sawing…
What’s so great about sawing logs is you’re the first to see God’s beautiful creation inside. There are so many amazing wood species and every log is different, with its own grain, character, and beauty.
Industrial strength sawmills, excellent customer support

I’m very glad we went with TimberKing. They make great mills — dependable, well-built, farm-grade, heavy-duty, and industrial strength. And it’s a great company to work with. They provide excellent customer service which is very rare these days. When I’ve needed help keeping my machines up and running, I’ve just called customer service. They’ve always been very helpful with problem-solving and troubleshooting. They really know their machines and I’m very grateful for these things.
And from what I understand, when I buy a new TimberKing, a crew will come out and set it up and train me on it. This is really exceptional.
My opinion? TimberKing all the way!
